Vitamin E supplements containing only tocopherols do not provide maximum benefits. Although tocopherols are very important for health, they lack many of the synergistic benefits offered by their cousins - tocotrienols. Few people are aware of the fact that vitamin E is a group of eight different compounds. Commercial supplements focus only on 4 of them - tocopherols, excluding tocotrienols that are very important for health. Due to small but significant structural differences, tocotrienols can become more involved in in-depth biological processes. Tocotrienols are usually classified as molecules from the vitamin E group, composed primarily of compounds called tocopherols. However, we can consider this a kind of historical legacy, because today we know that the most widely distributed in food tocotrienol, despite its similar structure, has only 1% of the activity of the most active tocopherol as vitamin E. Therefore, the properties of tocotrienols go far beyond the activity of vitamin E. Thus, tocotrienols , although much weaker as vitamin E, have much higher and better documented health benefits.
